Picture Day Information
Picture Day is an important part of a child’s school experience. In preparation for Picture Day, Lifetouch Canada collects limited directory-type information from schools (“School Data”). The specific data collected depends on the services being provided and is limited to what is necessary for authorized school purposes.
Typically, this includes:
-
Basic student roster information
-
Classroom information
-
Teacher assignments
This ensures accurate name-image matching and efficient distribution within the school.
If permitted by the school, we may collect parent email addresses to deliver Picture Day-related communications. We do not retain or use this information for other purposes unless a parent expressly opts in to receive updates or promotional offers.
On Picture Day, we photograph participating students in accordance with the school’s requirements.
School Data is used solely to:
-
Produce and deliver portrait-based products and administrative services for the school
-
Deliver Picture Day notices on behalf of the school
-
Offer parents the opportunity to purchase photographs
-
Produce and deliver Pictures 2 Protect® child safety cards
Schools determine how much information is shared and how it is used in School Service Items, consistent with their own privacy policies.
Consent
By using this website, participating in Picture Day, or transacting business with Lifetouch Canada, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Statement or as otherwise permitted by law.
Lifetouch Canada relies on participating schools to obtain appropriate consent when providing School Data.
If you do not want your child to participate in Picture Day, please notify your school.
If a child’s image has been captured in error, you may contact us directly to request secure deletion, subject to school approval where necessary for administrative purposes.
Retention of Personal Information
School Data is retained only as long as necessary for:
-
Supporting school administrative purposes
-
Promoting portrait sales to parents
-
Fulfilling portrait orders for the current school year
Typically, School Data and student images are retained for approximately 12–18 months following Picture Day, unless otherwise required by the school or requested earlier by a parent or guardian.
Customers with website accounts may request account deletion at any time, subject to identity verification.

We may also disclose personal information:
-
In response to lawful orders or legal requirements
-
To investigate breaches of agreements or contraventions of law

All such disclosures are made in accordance with Canadian law.

Pictures 2 Protect® Program
Lifetouch Canada does not share student photos with law enforcement unless:
-
A parent or guardian expressly requests it under this program, or

Disclosure is required by law
Lifetouch Canada provides two complimentary Pictures 2 Protect photo ID cards annually to families of students photographed in participating schools.
We collaborate with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection. If a child is reported missing, a parent or guardian may request through the Canadian Centre for Child Protection that a Lifetouch portrait be provided to assist search efforts. Images are released only with parent permission and law enforcement verification.
Parents maintain full control over whether a child’s image is shared under this program.
